LEDYARD, CT (WFSB) - The Groton-Ledyard Vet clinic notified police for a report of suspected animal abuse.
Richard Perez, 34, was arrested when the vet called police for concerns regarding the dog Perez brought in.
This dog had been neglected for some time and was malnourished and extremely emaciated.
The dog was deemed beyond medical care and needed to be euthanized.
Perez was arrested for cruelty to animals. Another dog was seized for safe keeping from Perez’s apartment based on its condition.
Perez is scheduled to appear in New London Superior Court on Nov. 20.
