Bridgeport Animal Control says three puppies were found frozen to death in a bag near the corner of Orange Street and Newfield Avenue Wednesday afternoon.
The city says the puppies appear to be newborns that were between one to five days old at the time of their deaths.
Desmond’s Army Animal Advocates is offering a $8,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of those responsible.
Chief animal control officer for the city of Bridgeport, Jennifer Merenda, says these types of abandonment and animal cruelty cases are increasing all over the state.
“There are cases that are going to stay with you for a while," Merenda says. "The way we would like to remember them is by getting justice for these animals."
Officers have been canvassing the neighborhood for leads and trying to get their hands on security footage.
"If you saw something, if you know something," Merenda says. "Please help us get justice for these puppies."
Necropsies of the puppies are pending.
Anyone with information is encouraged to call 203-576-7727.
Justice starts in the court and the courts aren't doing their job!
Sticking with my prior comment on another animal cruelty case, the punishment should fit the crime (but it never will). Those responsible should be given a one-way ticket to Siberia to enjoy the Russian winter, with no shelter available.
