NAUGATUCK, Conn. (WFSB) By Abigail Murillo Villacorta | Mar. 14, 2026 |

Naugatuck Animal Control is asking the public for information after a dog was found in poor condition on Friday.

Officers received a call about a lost dog in the area of Pleasant Avenue. The dog was rescued by an animal control officer and evaluated before being transported to a nearby vet hospital, according to Naugatuck Animal Control.

The dog, now named Jelly Bean, is an intact male pocket pitbull.

He is being treated for severe demodectic mange, severe emaciation, chronic allergies, and sores and wounds.

Reward offered

Now, with the help of Desmond’s Army Animal Law Advocates, they are offering a $5,000 cash reward for information leading to the people responsible in this case.

Animal control officials said they want to ensure no other animals from the same location are in need of assistance.

No further details were released.

If anyone has any information is asked to contact Naugatuck Animal Control at animalcontrol@naugatuckpd.gov or (203) 729-4324.
