BRANFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Desmond’s Army Animal Law Advocates are offering $5,000 rewards for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of those responsible for two separate abandonment cases Wednesday afternoon.

In Branford, a roughly 8-week-old sick kitten was found left in a box with a female sweater inside near Planet Fitness on East Main Street/Route 1.

Leaders with the Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter said the area is high traffic and there’s heavy machinery “all over the area.”

They said the kitten is now receiving treatment for ringworm, flea infestation, and dehydration.

Anyone with any information should call the Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter at 203-315-4125.

A King Charles Cavalier was also abandoned in West Hartford this week.

The animal advocacy group said the brown male dog was abandoned near the playscape at Beachland Park on Wednesday afternoon.

Anyone with any information should call the West Hartford Animal Control/ West Hartford Police Department at 860-523-5203.
