EAST HARTFORD — An animal advocacy group is offering a $5,000 reward for information regarding an emaciated dog found in East Hartford.

The dog, a female boxer mix, was found late Thursday morning on Daniel Street and likely would have died from exposure if it had been left outside for an hour or so longer, East Hartford Animal Control said in a post on Facebook.
Desmond's Army Animal Law Advocates said in a Facebook post that the reward will be given in exchange for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of whoever is responsible for abandoning the dog or leaving it in that condition.
Animal control officials said the dog's body temperature was 95.7 degrees, which was taken after it had 30 minutes to warm up on the way to a vet, and the dog had no body fat to help stay warm.
